ABOUT THE BFVA
The Premier Film, TV & Video Association in Barbados
The Barbados Film and Video Association Inc. is a non-profit organization which was incorporated on October 29th, 2008. The association is engaged in the promoting and development of the audio visual sector and related services and trades. Such service will include other useful activities as may be reasonably regarded as furthering, directly or indirectly the undertaking of the association for both members and non-members. Some of these activities include advocacy, the hosting of workshops, and the execution of the Barbados Visual Media Awards and Film Festival.
Our Vision
To be a professional body of audio visual practitioners which ensures a viable and sustainable sector that is among the top three foreign exchange earners in Barbados by 2030.
Our Mission
To unite stakeholders and be the key facilitator in supporting the emergence of a unique aesthetic and accessing resources for the sector through advocacy, standard setting, training, marketing and promotion of the industry.
The Barbados Visual Media Festival
The Barbados Visual Media Festival is in its eighth year. The Festival, hosted by the Barbados Film and Video Association, is a celebration of the work of independent filmmakers and content creators from around the world and pays special attention to the work of Barbadian and Caribbean filmmakers.
The Festival and Awards ceremony run annually between October and November.
